I dug these out of my stash to sell, but nobody wanted them.  I think I'll keep the one on the left and see if someone wants the other two.  

I've been making scrubbie dishcloths like crazy.  I love them.

Looks like I could have done a better job of blocking this doily.  

This vest is slightly too small.  I worked and measured so carefully.  I should have allowed some for seam allowance and a little more for give. The sleeves were loads too small, and I didn't have the heart to redo it.  It was such a challenge as the pattern was badly translated from Chinese and I had to use the chart and all my crocheting knowledge to get it done.

This scarf, bag and two baby hats are the ones I put on display in library this year.  

These two scarves I made a long time ago.  I love this yarn.

This one is a drop stitch scarf.

I like the diagonal effect on this one.  It is a yo, knit 2 tog style, with the pattern on one row and knitting back on the 2nd row somehow makes this with diagonal rows and slanted ends.

The shawl is one of my favorite, most wearable things I've made.  It's warm and easily taken on and off.  It is displayed here in the library.

Trying New Things

I made a lot of projects during the time I was in recovery, some are worth keeping, some are not. 

Some are destined for gift.  Many have not been photographed, or recorded.  Some may never be.  These are the some from my 2014 stash.

I like the braided crocheted blue one.  Very easy and made with scraps.  The black and white one is two scarves sewn together with special pointy ends.  It was a total guess and not a real success.  I've learned about double knitting since, and that was what I wanted to do and didn't know how.  

I finished a cable knit baby afghan in a color block style.  Love those cables.

Four afghans, same pattern for graduation gifts.  This is a quick one, with a double strand, double crochet ripple with a "P" hook.

I call this a step-up afghan.  It can be used with scraps since it has some short rows.  I found it on you-tube.

These latest are two grad gifts, for boys.  I found a photo, with no pattern on pinterest.  I like the look, but the rows of "spotted" stripes aren't the same.  It has something to do with the direction of the crochet row.  I'm still trying to decide if this is something I want to work up a better pattern. 

I've never done a rag quilt of any kind.  I had the squares (5") cut for several years intending to make a more traditional tie quilt, but I had all these scraps of fabric, and I thought the rag effect would be more forgiving.  It is, but my advice is to use larger, MUCH larger squares. (the clipping of all those seams is a CHORE) 

It looks nice, sewed up quickly and easily, but it is heavy!

Knitting Scarves

I love knitting and I'm discovering expensive yarns.  This particular one, I'm embarrassed to say how much it cost, and I had 20 % off.  It is a skein of yarn with different fiber types hand tied together. I made two scarves out of one skein, since the fibers repeat themselves, once. I fell in love with it, so I used it as my birthday present. 

This scarf is knitted long ways with the length of fiber making one and a half rows.  I wanted it a little wider and I thought it would be too long with one row per fiber length.  I wish it was a bit longer, but it works fine.  I ran out of yard about 10 inches from the end so I raided my stash for some pretty yarn that matched to finish.

The other half I made into a skinny triangular scarf.  It is about 6 feet long, which seems too long, but it worked really well to wrap up.  However, someone saw it, and I sold it, so I need to make another one for me.   This pattern was easy. Cast on, three stitches, Row 1 knit to end, cast on 4 stitches. Row 2, knit to end, cast on 4 stitches.  Continue until it's the size you like. I used size 11 circular needles.

This scarf is similar, using a double strand of fancy thick cotton thread. I think I only cast on three at the end of every row.  It is a little wider at the end, and shorter.  I knit one or two extra rows even at the last, to make the points wider, and finished with 5 double crochet shells all around. (sc in between each shell)

I'm really happy with the way this turned out.  I was using thread I tried to make several things out of and didn't finish.  It drapes really well.

I used the size 11 needles on this as well.

I used these same needles with some worsted wool, doubled to make a mobius scarf. They are easy and fast. I used Cat's video to help me cast on, it's a bit tricky.  I can't find the scarf at the moment to take a picture.
